"Sports funding arrives"
Sunday,August 12, 2007 — The Northbridge Education Foundation has
announced two new developments that will help support the
continuation of activities and sports in the Northbridge
Public Schools. The foundation has secured funding through a
$110,000 line of credit with UniBank, guaranteed by a group of
dedicated parents, that will enable the schools to offer all
extracurricular activities, including athletics, through the
first half of the 2007 – 2008 school year.
The
foundation has also funded and forwarded to the Northbridge
School District the prerequisite Massachusetts Interscholastic
Athletic Association registration fee of $1,700, which allows
the schools to participate in interscholastic athletics for
the entire school year. All students who will be participating
in the fall athletic program may pick up their athletic
registration forms in the high school office.
The
Northbridge Education Foundation is an independent
community-based nonprofit organization which awards funds, via
grants to the Northbridge Public School System, for the
benefit of its students. Foundation members plan to work
closely with the school system to secure financial support for
the second half of the upcoming school year.
The
foundation’s goal is to fund all activities and athletics
through the spring. For more information, visit the Web site
